I don't know if you guys already know, but I am Jamaican and I'm proud as hell of my country and any accomplishments anyone from my country makes (the entire Caribbean for that matter)....That will FOREVER be home.
I didn't catch the Miss Universe 2010 pageant last night while it aired (too busy cupcaking lol), but was greeted by my boss (she's Jamaican) telling me Jamaican Yendi Phillips (above) had come in 2nd place (1st runner up in pageant jargon).
I love that photo of her...my fave!!
I then spent my entire morning trying to research her, and look at more photos of her, she is gorgeous, makes me mad I haven't been paying attention to this pageant stuff. Although I don't care too much for the pageant stuff anyway, anything involving Jamaica on a big level always peaks my interest. I will say I am a little biased and definitely think she should have won (I went and researched Mexico as well, watched her interviews etc, just so I could give a fair assessment, my thought is that translation allows for contestants to have a lot more time to think about the answers to their questions which to me is not fair, because they have to wait for the translator to translate before proceeding)
Either way I just want to say Congratulations...and Thanks for putting Jamaica our tiny island on the map once again.
